In 1982 the actresses Stefania Casini and Francesca Marciano wrote in New York, the city where they had met, the screenplay for their first film, Lontano da dove.
The film, whose title was inspired by a Lucio Dalla song, is set in that very American metropolis, depicted by Andrea Pazienza in the poster commissioned from him for the occasion.
In the drawing the artist portrays the Twin Towers and pours into it the impressions of his summer trips in previous years, when he had gone to the city in search of the “’80s sign”.
Produced by Gaumont Italia, RAI Rete2 and EFFE P.C., the film competed at the 1983 Venice Film Festival, enjoying fair success.
