Drawings and Illustrations

“I think that if I could give the right meaning to every gesture I make on a sheet of paper, and to every line corresponding to that gesture, the line would come off the page and come and talk to you.”

“It isn’t written anywhere. Nothing codifies illustration for illustration’s sake, comics for comics’ sake, painting for painting’s sake…”

DISNEYANA

From childhood and throughout his life, Andrea was drawn to the Disney universe, as he showed in numerous pages, cartoons and illustrations. Mickey Mouse and his sidekick Goofy found their way into his comic stories in Perché Pippo sembra uno sballato and La leggenda di Italianino Liberatore. A great lover of Carl Barks, Andrea also gave his own take on the Disney ducks, particularly in his cartoons for the satirical weekly Zut and in La nuova ecologia. Also unforgettable is his Vincenzo Paperica, an affectionate portrait of Mollica as a duck, which appeared several times in the weekly Topolino.–
