Theater
From his first years at DAMS (Department of Arts, Music and Performing Arts) in Bologna, Andrea Pazienza always showed a keen interest in theater. In that period he began to write texts and draw posters for amateur shows organized by some of his fellow students.
In the 1980s, besides creating posters and illustrations for the program booklets of various companies, he got more directly involved instage action, working with Sosta Palmizi and even creating a set. Speaking about this experience, he said:
“Compared to my work, it was like acquiring another level of knowledge,” he says, “after a first set-design experience in Florence in ’83 with Franco Branciaroli. Of course, now I intend to make the most of this baggage”.
It is easy to imagine that, had it not been for his untimely death, Pazienza would have continued to bring to the theater the visionary power of his line and his ability to mix different languages.
