HELLO PAZIENZA!

from Il Male no. 35 (September 23, 1980)

Popular singer-songwriter Andrea Pazienza, one of the best-loved folk songs of our beautiful Apulia, has left for Hollywood, where in two months he plans to star in three films, meet at least one hundred and fifty famous actresses, marry Ava Gardner, divorce and come back to Italy laden with glory and dollars. We reached him by phone at his new residence in Beverly Hills, where he spends his grueling days between one romp and the next, between one real shot and one fake one.

Hello Andrea, how’s it going? Still at work?
Oh, yes. How many dollars have you brought me?

Nothing, just a few questions about your amazing activity.
They say you left a heap of pages for stories back in Italy, but unfortunately they’d already been printed.

I know, guys. I was exhausted, I know I didn’t do a damn thing. Holy gods.

And are you very sorry?
Very. My two favorite magazines are in fact precisely Il Male, which you all know, and Frigidaire, which you’ll soon get to know. I was able to do little, sorry.

Andrea Pazienza, the popular singer-songwriter, among the best-loved folk songs of our beautiful Apulia, has left, as you may have gathered, for America. There he plans to star in three films… If you find any of his pages anywhere… er, tough luck…
